"Hitman" proves to be a knockout at our 2008 Dinner...
Our 2008 Sportsman’s Dinner, which was held on Friday March 28, was a huge success. Our special guest speaker Ricky “The Hitman” Hatton (pictured above with our full squad) captivated his 500 strong audience with a strong mix of humour and stories from his glittering career as a World boxing champion.
Hatton, who is currently in training for an IBO title defence against Juan Lezcano on May 24, joked about how his weight balloons between fights. "The press call me Ricky "Fatton" or refer to me as the Pavarotti of Boxing".
During the eight weeks leading up to his fight with Lezcano, Ricky is getting himself into shape and is having to ditch pints of Guinness and beer in favour of fruit juice. Luckily for The Hilton Hotel, the remainder of the evening’s guests didn’t quite have the same restraint when it came to alcohol consumption!
